WE TAKE PLAYER SAFETY SERIOUSLY!

The Elite 8 Soccer League is affiliated with the Vermont State Soccer Association (VSSA) which is a state body under the USASA (US Adult Soccer Association).

WHAT IS THE VSSA?

Since 2001, the VSSA has supported and helped develop competitive adult soccer in the state of Vermont. The Vermont State Soccer Association is the official governing body representing U.S. Soccer in the State of Vermont.

This includes administering player accident insurance, liaising, supporting, and building stronger ties between Vermont Youth Soccer and Vermont State officials, supporting and underwriting team league participation, representing Vermont at regional and national USASA conferences, and working to support the growth of adult leagues around the State.

The VSSA is a volunteer based, representative body composed of soccer officials throughout the State dedicated to acting in the best interests of our sport and our players.

HOW TO FILE AN ACCIDENT CLAIM FORM

Should you be injured during a league match and require medical attention, please contact the league to inform us of your injury. Then, we strongly recommend you file a claim form on line within 1 year of the date of your injury. Submitting a claim form takes approximately 5 minutes.

Follow the LINK below to submit your claim and access any resources related to your player accident insurance coverage. Please Note: It’s recommended to enter information into the required fields manually. Auto populate can sometimes result in submission issues. Also, the first field required is a “reporter dropdown”, please select “injured player” as the “reporter”.

AS A REGISTERED PLAYER IN ANY VSSA-AFFILIATED LEAGUE...

Your association fee ($20 - which is built into your player fee) provides the following benefits:

  • Participant Accident Insurance Coverage For All Registered League Players

    • Primary medical insurance for uninsured players and secondary medical insurance for all insured players, with a $400 deductible and a $5,000 maximum benefit. The majority of your membership fee goes to providing this important medical coverage. Please see the USASA website for more details.

    • Affiliated leagues/teams/players have this medical insurance coverage for league play, as well as when they play in ANY other affiliated competitions, anywhere in the United States. This means if you play in other VSSA leagues, you have coverage.

  • Partnership with USSF certified referees and assignors

    • All game officials working VSSA-affiliated matches are USSF-certified. This means they have undergone training to reach at least Grade 7.

    • The State Referee Program offers training for new officials (and there's always a shortage of officials), and provides assessments and advancement opportunities for experienced officials. Should you ever have a case of referee or player abuse or assault in your league, you can turn to the VSSA and the Vermont State Officials organization to handle the disciplinary hearing—and any enforcement actions would carry association-wide for that referee or player. In that capacity, the VSSA protect the interests of the referees, leagues, and players.

  • Entry into regional and national tournaments

    • Although Vermont has not fielded a team for any regional or national tournament play, there are opportunities in men’s, women’s, and co-ed competition outside of Vermont. We also have the opportunity to host tournament play. This is a benefit that VSSA is actively developing.

  • League Directors and Officers Liability Insurance

    • This is a general liability insurance policy offered to your league’s directors and officers at no cost through USASA. What this means is that your league directors and officer, who often are volunteers, have a general liability policy behind them if claims are made against them.
